TRICARE is health insurance that is offered to individuals in the military of the United States. Drug and alcohol use inside the military is more common than one would imagine, and the need to provide treatment to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers many different treatment services to handle drug and alcohol dependence like detoxification services, in addition to treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. If an inpatient program will be the favored rehab option, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in that program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits concerning the length of time a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window that is covered.
