Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab whenever they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehab client to participate in rehab services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve significant drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis each day or several days each week. This is very helpful for many who have just completed a more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with just a brief history of drug use which is really a very small amount of clients. For an individual with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehab centers that provide rehab over a long-term basis are going to be the more effective rehab choice.
