Dual diagnosis rehabs are programs which deliver treatment to address both mental health and addiction concerns at the same time. Dual diagnosis is an extremely prevalent situation for individuals involved in drug abuse, as those that have mental health issues often self medicate with alcohol and drugs to experience some kind of temporary respite from their disorder. Providing a safe and secure setting is essential to ensure that dual diagnosis clients can be relaxed and remain undistracted from circumstances which could compromise their program and development. Rehabilitation counselors will work to spot environmental issues in the client's life such as negative people in their lives or any other things that must be addressed in order for the person to be mentally stable and sober t after they depart dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral rehab which will help them develop far better coping methods so they are able to better deal with life situations better after they leave dual diagnosis rehab rather than turning to alcohol and drugs as a possible option.
