Medicare is a form of medical insurance developed by the federal government for older folks, in addition to people with specific disabilities and illnesses. When someone who has Medicare needs treatment for instances of substance abuse, their treatment will either be covered completely by their Medicare health insurance or to a great extent. The only real exception is, the person must acquire treatment coming from an alcohol and drugs detox facility which accepts Medicare. Before the person will be allowed to start rehabilitation, they may also have to see their doctor who must declare that rehab services are medically essential, and the doctor will generally approve what type of rehabilitation the individual will take part in. Medicare Part An and Part B cover several types of rehabilitation providers. Part A pays for an inpatient stay in a Medicare accepted facility if the individual must be in a hospital because of their problem, and the costs that they will have to pay for personally are identical to every other stay in a hospital. Medicare Part B will partly cover outpatient rehab in the Medicare accepted program, and the individual will have to cover whatever Part B doesn't pay for with supplemental insurance coverage or they'll have to self pay.
