Hearing Impaired Rehab Services - Flint
Hearing impaired individuals generally have a greater risk of drug use issues due to their impairment, and rehab services must be available which cater to their circumstances. Those who are hearing impaired can feel alone, lack motivation, and be without goals because of their impairment. Some hearing impaired individuals then decide to self medicate with alcohol or drugs to numb this pain and have a temporary release from the emotional and psychological problems that accompany having this handicap in life. Firstly, detecting a drug and alcohol abuse problem among the hearing impaired is often a challenge, because these individuals may try to hide their issue because of social stigmas that come with drug abuse. Nonetheless, drug rehab counselors who provide rehab to hearing impaired individuals understand the challenges that these clients face. ASL treatment services are of course a necessity, as well as treatment services which address the unique challenges that hearing impaired individuals face. Group therapy gives a forum for important peer support so that rehabilitation clients can know that they are not on their own, and that there is hope to resolve their challenge with alcohol and drugs. Individual counseling services may be more tailor-made for everybody to ensure their particular challenges can be addressed in rehabilitation.
