Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be very helpful in circumstances where standard rehab settings have not meet expectations, for example dealing with situations inside a women's life which are unique and distressing. Such concerns may have to do with sexual abuse, physical trauma, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and being a mother, and other really serious issues that are specific to women. Research has revealed that women could also become involved in drug use more readily than men, and so are more predisposed to illness as a result of drug abuse problems than males because of this. Because of duties in their home, women also tend to postpone seeking out and receiving treatment, a situation which can be a catalyst for disaster. That said, treatment services for women are designed to ensure that a women's needs are the concentration and priority. After this step, counselors help women focus on both general and gender specific concerns who have prompted their drug abuse. Women also enjoy the constructive support from other female peers, and a few programs which offer treatment services to women offer client beds for their children.
