Outpatient rehab enables the treatment client to participate in treatment services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment center. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to solve substantial substance abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who decide on an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services part-time every day or several days weekly. This is often helpful for many who have recently completed a far more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a short history of drug use which is really a very small percentage of clients. For an individual with more significant drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities that provide rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more effective rehab alternative.
