A group home for anyone who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which offers continuous support and assistance for folks in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for folks with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral difficulties for example. As opposed to sending people who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar facility, a group home may help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability within their lives and have counsel and support at their fingertips 24/7. Residents in a group home may be involved in rehabilitation services during residence, or could possibly be taking steps to get their life setup outside the group home to enable them to at some time live independently not in the group home. For example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or obtain work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent option, yet it's a practical temporary option for those who are trying to get their lives back together again.
