TRICARE is health care insurance which is provided to members of the military of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is much more common than one would think, and the necessity to offer rehab to these individuals is a crucial priority. TRICARE covers a number of treatment services to deal with alcohol and drug dependence including detoxification services, along with rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. People with TRICARE will of course be asked to obtain a prior authorization before taking part in any sort of treatment service, which can be organized with their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient center could be the favored treatment option, TRICARE will cover a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in such a program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are particular limits as to how much time a TRICARE member can remain within an inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment that may be very useful, as it could help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process.
