Dual diagnosis rehabs are facilities which provide treatment to address both mental health and addiction issues concurrently. Dual diagnosis is a very common situation for people involved in drug abuse, as those that have mental health disorders frequently self medicate with drugs and alcohol to experience some form of short-term relief from their disorder. In a dual diagnosis rehab, rehabilitation counselors will help men and women through a thorough rehab plan all aimed at restoring and stabilizing mental, physical and emotional health whilst dealing with drug abuse issues. Offering a safe and secure environment is essential so that dual diagnosis clients can be comfortable and remain free from distraction from things which may cut across their treatment plan and advancement. Treatment counselors will continue to work to recognize environmental issues in the client's life such as negative relationships or any other things that need to be addressed in order for the person to be mentally healthy and sober t when they depart dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral rehabilitation which will help them develop far better coping methods so they are able to better handle life situations well after they leave dual diagnosis rehab as opposed to turning to drugs as a possible option.
