TRICARE is health insurance which is provided to members of the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse inside the military is a lot more common than one would imagine, and the need to offer treatment to these individuals is a vital priority. TRICARE covers a number of rehabilitation services to address drug and alcohol dependence including detox services, along with treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. People with TRICARE will obviously have to obtain a prior authorization before partaking in any sort of rehabilitation service, which can be organized using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient center is the preferred rehabilitation option, TRICARE will cover a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in this center per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are certain limits as to how long a TRICARE member can remain in an inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that's covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which can be very beneficial, as it can certainly help include loved ones in the healing and process of recovery.
