TRICARE is medical health insurance which is provided to people in the military of the United States. Substance abuse inside the military is more common than one would imagine, and the need to offer rehab to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers a number of rehab services to handle drug and alcohol dependence such as detox services, along with rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. People with TRICARE will obviously have to get a prior authorization before partaking in any sort of rehabilitation service, which may be arranged with their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient center will be the preferred rehab choice, TRICARE will cover twenty-one days or one inpatient stay in such a facility per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are certain limits about the length of time a TRICARE member can remain in an inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling which can be very helpful, as it can help include family members in the healing and process of recovery. No member of the military should fight this battle alone, and there are professional rehab counselors ready to help today.
