A group home for somebody who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and help for people in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. Instead of sending those who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar facility, a group home may help offer an acceptable environment to help individuals sustain stability inside their lives and still have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. Residents in a group home may be involved in rehabilitation services during residence, or could be taking measures to get their life setup outside the group home so that they can at some time live independently outside the group home. For instance, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain employment. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent answer, but it's a viable short term option for many who are trying to get their lives back together again.
