A group home for anyone who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which offers continual support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for people with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. Rather than sending individuals who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar facility, a group home can help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals sustain stability in their lives and have counsel and assistance within reach 24/7. People who reside within a group home may be involved in rehab services whilst in residence, or may be taking measures to get their life set up outside of the group home in order to at some point live independently away from the group home. For example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain employment. A group home is definitely not a long-term or permanent option, but it is a practical temporary option for individuals who are trying to get their lives back together again.
