Offering gender-specific rehab services has shown to be very helpful in circumstances where traditional treatment facilities have fallen short, including dealing with situations in the women's life which are unique and traumatic. Such concerns may relate to sexual abuse, physical abuse, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and being a mother, or any other serious issues which can be specific to women. Research has shown that women can also become involved in drug abuse more easily than men, and so are more predisposed to illness due to dependency issues than males as a result. Following this step, counselors help women give attention to both common and gender specific problems which may have brought on their drug abuse. Women also utilize the positive support from their female peers, and a few centers that offer treatment services to women provide client beds for their young children.
