TRICARE is health care insurance that is offered to members of the armed forces of the United States. Drug abuse inside the military is more common than one would assume, and the need to provide rehab to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers a number of treatment services to deal with drug and alcohol dependence including detoxification services, as well as treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. Those that have TRICARE will obviously have to obtain a prior authorization before taking part in any sort of rehab service, which can be arranged using a regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient center will be the preferred rehab choice, TRICARE will cover a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in such a center per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits concerning how long a TRICARE member can remain within an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, and there's typically a 30-45 day window that's covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which may be very helpful, as it can help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process. No member of the military should fight this battle alone, and there are skilled rehab counselors standing by to help today.
