Dual diagnosis rehabs are centers which provide rehab to handle both addiction and mental health concerns simultaneously. Dual diagnosis is a very common circumstance for people involved with substance abuse, as those that have mental health disorders often self medicate with drugs and alcohol to to feel some sort of temporary relief from their disorder. In a dual diagnosis rehab, rehabilitation counselors will help individuals through a comprehensive treatment plan all aimed at restoring and replenishing mental, emotional and physical health whilst addressing alcohol and drug abuse problems. Providing a safe and secure setting is key so that dual diagnosis clients can feel comfortable and remain undistracted from circumstances which may cut across their program and development. Rehabilitation counselors will work to identify environmental factors in the client's life including negative relationships or any other things which must be addressed in order for the individual to remain mentally healthy and abstinen t when they depart dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also reap the benefits of behavioral treatment which will help them develop far better coping mechanisms so that they are able to better handle life circumstances more proficiently after they depart dual diagnosis rehab as opposed to returning to drugs and alcohol as an inferior answer.
