Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to participate in treatment services with the same commitment you might ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address significant substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services on a part-time basis each day or several days per week. This is helpful for those who have recently completed an even more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is really a very small amount of clients. For somebody with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment programs which offer rehabilitation on a long-term basis are going to be the more effective treatment choice.
