Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment one would normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to address substantial drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. People that choose an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and be a part of therapy and treatment services part-time every day or several days a week. This can be very helpful for those who have recently completed a far more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with only a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small number of clients. For an individual with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment centers which offer rehab over a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous rehabilitation choice.
