Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the treatment client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve substantial substance abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. Those that do choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily take part in meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or a few days each week. This is often helpful for those who have just completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with only a brief history of drug use which is really a really small amount of clients. For an individual with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug treatment programs which provide treatment over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous treatment choice.
