Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would usually have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment facility. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address significant substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. People who choose an outpatient rehab will typically show up at meetings and be a part of therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days each week. This is often helpful for many who have recently completed a far more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a brief history of drug use which is really a very small percentage of clients. For someone with more serious addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation centers that provide rehab on a long-term basis are going to be the more effective rehabilitation option.
