TRICARE is health care insurance that is provided to folks in the armed forces of the United States. Drug abuse inside the military is more common than one would think, and the need to provide rehab to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers a number of treatment services to deal with alcohol and drug dependence including detoxification services, as well as rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. Those that have TRICARE will naturally be asked to get a prior authorization before taking part in any sort of rehab service, which may be arranged using a regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient program is the preferred rehab choice, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in this particular program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are particular limits regarding the length of time a TRICARE member can stay in the inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30 to 45 day window which is covered.
