Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab whenever they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the treatment client to participate in rehab services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve significant drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. People that do choose an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis every day or several days per week. This is often helpful for many who have recently completed a far more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is really a really small percentage of clients. For someone with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities that provide treatment over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehab alternative.
