TRICARE is medical health insurance that is offered to people in the military of the United States. Drug and alcohol use within the military is a lot more common than one would assume, and the necessity to offer rehab to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers a variety of rehab services to address alcohol and drug dependence including detox services, in addition to treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Those that have TRICARE will obviously need to obtain a prior authorization before partaking in any sort of rehabilitation service, which may be arranged with their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program is the preferred rehab option, TRICARE covers a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in such a facility per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits regarding how long a TRICARE member can remain in an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which can be very beneficial, as it can help include loved ones in the healing and process of recovery. No member of the military should struggle with this battle alone, and there are expert rehabilitation counselors ready to help today.
