Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehab client to take part in treatment services without the commitment one would normally have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve significant drug abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everybody. People that do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time every day or several days each week. This is very helpful for individuals who have just completed a more thorough inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with just a short history of drug use which is usually a very small amount of clients. For someone with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation programs which provide treatment over a long-term basis will be the more effective rehabilitation choice.
