Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in treatment services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve significant substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those that do choose an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and be a part of counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis every day or a few days per week. This is helpful for those who have recently completed a more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is usually a really small number of clients. For somebody with more serious drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment programs which provide rehab on a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
