LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the unique needs of these clients. Individuals who are LGBT can often feel alone, misunderstood, and considered socially unwanted. This can be a very hard or painful existence, and leads many LGBT individuals to a lifestyle of drug use to alleviate this pain. Somebody who is LGBT might not feel relaxed inside a conventional treatment program amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing in their lives. A LGBT facility provides an environment that is free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be totally safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehab counselors issues which have to be resolved to enable them to get better. Rehabilitation counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their family members, in the event their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is generally the case. This situation is an extremely frequent trigger for drug abuse, and is also an example of a thing that would be handled in treatment. LGBT clients often would like to be accepted within their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and build confidence to enable them to lead a healthy life free from drugs and alcohol.
