Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehab client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment you might usually have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to address significant drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services on a part-time basis every day or a few days a week. This is helpful for individuals who have just completed a far more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a short history of substance abuse which is really a really small amount of clients. For someone with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs which offer rehabilitation on a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial treatment choice.
