Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in treatment services without the commitment you might usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address substantial substance abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. People who do decide on an outpatient rehab will ordinarily attend meetings and be a part of counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis each day or a few days weekly. This is very helpful for individuals who have just completed a far more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with only a brief history of substance abuse which is really a very small amount of clients. For an individual with more severe addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facilities which offer rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more effective rehabilitation alternative.
