TRICARE is medical health insurance which is offered to people in the military of the United States. Drug abuse within the military is a lot more common than one would think, and the necessity to provide rehabilitation to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers a number of treatment services to address drug and alcohol dependence such as detoxification services, in addition to rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Individuals with TRICARE will obviously be asked to obtain a prior authorization before partaking in any type of treatment service, that may be arranged using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient facility could be the preferred treatment choice, TRICARE covers a three week period or one inpatient stay in such a program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits regarding just how long a TRICARE member can remain within an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30 to 45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which can be very beneficial, as it may help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process.
