Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in treatment services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug treatment center. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to solve significant drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People who do choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily attend meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services on a part-time basis every day or several days each week. This can be very helpful for those who have recently completed a more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with only a brief history of substance abuse which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For someone with more serious drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment centers that provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehab option.
