Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be very helpful in circumstances where conventional rehabilitation settings have not meet expectations, for example dealing with situations in a women's life that are unique and painful. Such difficulties may have to do with sexual abuse, physical abuse, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and motherhood, or other significant issues that are particular to women. Research has shown that women could also get involved in abusing drugs more readily than men, and are more vulnerable to sickness because of drug abuse problems than males because of this. Because of responsibilities in their home, women also tend to put off looking for and undergoing treatment, a circumstance which can lead to disaster. Being mindful of this, rehab services for women are created to ensure a women's needs are the concentration and priority. Similar to coed rehabs, drug rehabilitation programs which offer rehab services to women help women through detoxification and withdrawal as a starting point.
