Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment you might normally have to consent to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab program. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve significant drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. Those that choose an outpatient rehab will typically show up at meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services part-time on a daily basis or a few days a week. This is very helpful for many who have just completed a far more thorough inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is really a very small number of clients. For an individual with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab centers that provide treatment over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial treatment option.
