A group home for anyone who has been involved in drug abuse is a facility which offers continuous support and help for people in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but in addition there are group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. As an alternative to sending individuals who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar place, a group home can help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals sustain stability inside their lives and have counsel and assistance at their fingertips around the clock. Residents in the group home could be taking part in treatment services while in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life setup outside of the group home so that they can at some time live independently outside the group home. As an example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or obtain work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent option, yet it's a practical temporary option for those who are trying to get their lives back together again.
