Dual diagnosis rehabs are centers which deliver rehab to deal with both mental health and addiction issues concurrently. Dual diagnosis is a very prevalent circumstance for people involved in drug abuse, as people with mental health disorders often medicate themselves with alcohol and drugs to to feel some type of temporary respite from their disorder. Offering a safe setting is essential so that dual diagnosis clients can feel comfortable and remain free from distraction from things which could compromise their treatment plan and progress. Rehabilitation counselors will work to spot environmental issues in the client's life such as negative relationships or other things which should be addressed in order for the individual to stay mentally healthy and sober t once they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral treatment which helps them develop more effective coping methods so they are able to better deal with life circumstances better when they leave dual diagnosis rehab as opposed to returning to drugs and alcohol as an inferior answer.
