Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in treatment services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve substantial substance abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. People that do choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and take part in counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis every day or several days per week. This can be very helpful for many who have recently completed a much more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with only a short history of drug use which is really a really small amount of clients. For someone with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehab programs that provide treatment on a long-term basis will probably be the more effective rehab choice.
