Individuals who want to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve significant substance abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will ordinarily attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time each day or a few days each week. This is often helpful for many who have just completed a far more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with just a brief history of substance abuse which is usually a very small number of clients. For someone with more serious drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facilities which provide treatment on a long-term basis are going to be the more effective rehabilitation option.
