Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to take part in rehab services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to solve substantial drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and take part in counseling and rehabilitation services part-time every day or a few days weekly. This is helpful for those who have just completed a more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with only a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small amount of clients. For someone with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment facilities which offer rehabilitation over a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous rehab option.
