Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be worthwhile in situations where conventional treatment facilities have not meet expectations, for example coping with situations within a women's life which can be unique and traumatic. Such troubles may have to do with sexual abuse, physical abuse, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family and motherhood, or another significant issues that happen to be specific to women. Research has revealed that women may also get involved in substance abuse more readily than men, and so are more vulnerable to illness due to drug abuse problems than males because of this. Because of responsibilities in their home, women also tend to put off looking for and receiving care for addiction, a situation which can lead to disaster.
