Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would normally have to consent to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve significant drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. Those who decide on an outpatient rehab will typically take part in meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services part-time each day or a few days a week. This is often helpful for individuals who have recently completed a much more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is really a really small percentage of clients. For somebody with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment centers which provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more effective rehabilitation choice.
