TRICARE is medical health insurance which is provided to individuals in the military of the United States. Drug and alcohol use inside the military is much more common than one would imagine, and the need to provide treatment to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers a variety of rehabilitation services to handle drug and alcohol dependence including detox services, and also rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. Those that have TRICARE will needless to say be asked to have a prior authorization before taking part in any sort of treatment service, which can be arranged using a regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient program will be the favored treatment choice, TRICARE covers 21 days or one inpatient stay in this facility per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are particular limits as to how much time a TRICARE member can remain in an inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment which may be very beneficial, as it may help include family members in the healing and recovery process.
