TRICARE is medical health insurance that's provided to members of the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is much more common than one would think, and the necessity to offer rehabilitation to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers a number of rehabilitation services to handle drug and alcohol dependence like detoxification services, as well as rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. People who have TRICARE will obviously have to have a prior authorization before taking part in any sort of treatment service, which can be arranged with their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient facility could be the preferred rehabilitation choice, TRICARE will cover a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in this facility per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits regarding how long a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window which is covered.
