Individuals who want to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment center. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address significant drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everybody. People who do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time on a daily basis or several days each week. This can be very helpful for individuals who have recently completed a much more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is really a very small amount of clients. For an individual with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities which offer rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehab choice.
