TRICARE is medical health insurance which is offered to people in the military of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is a lot more common than one would imagine, and the necessity to offer treatment to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers a number of treatment services to address drug and alcohol dependence including detox services, in addition to treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Individuals with TRICARE will naturally be required to have a prior authorization before partaking in any type of rehabilitation service, which is often organized using a regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program could be the preferred rehabilitation option, TRICARE covers a three week period or one inpatient stay in that program per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are specific limits regarding the length of time a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling which can be very beneficial, as it can help include family members in the healing and recovery process. No person in the military should struggle with this battle alone, and there are skilled rehabilitation counselors waiting to help you today.
