TRICARE is medical insurance which is provided to folks in the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is much more common than one would assume, and the need to provide rehabilitation to these individuals is a vital priority. TRICARE covers many different treatment services to cope with drug and alcohol dependence such as detox services, in addition to rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. Those that have TRICARE will of course need to obtain a prior authorization before taking part in any type of treatment service, that may be arranged using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient center could be the favored rehabilitation option, TRICARE will cover a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in that program per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are specific limits regarding the length of time a TRICARE member can remain in an inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30 to 45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which can be very beneficial, as it could help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process. No person in the military should fight this battle alone, and there are expert treatment counselors waiting to help you today.
