Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment center. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve significant drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and be a part of therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis every day or a few days each week. This is helpful for individuals who have recently completed a more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is usually a really small amount of clients. For an individual with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities which offer treatment over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehab option.
