Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehab client to participate in rehab services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug rehab facility. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to address substantial substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People who choose an outpatient rehab will typically take part in meetings and take part in counseling and rehab services part-time daily or several days per week. This can be very helpful for individuals who have recently completed a more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with only a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small number of clients. For an individual with more serious drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facilities which provide treatment over a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
