Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehab client to participate in treatment services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address significant drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. People that decide on an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services part-time every day or several days each week. This is very helpful for individuals who have recently completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with just a short history of substance abuse which is really a really small amount of clients. For an individual with more serious addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab centers which provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehab alternative.
