Those who are LGBT can feel alone, misunderstood, and considered socially unwanted. This is sometimes a very difficult and painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of drug use to alleviate these feelings. Somebody that is LGBT might not exactly feel safe inside a conventional rehabilitation facility amongst folks who aren't experiencing the same challenges they are experiencing in their lives. A LGBT facility provides an environment which can be free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be completely safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehabilitation counselors problems which must be handled in order to recover. Rehabilitation counselors within a LGBT rehab will help clients repair relationships with their family, in the event their family disagree with their sexual choice as is often the case. This situation is certainly a common trigger for drug use, and is also a good example of something can be handled in treatment. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted within their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and create confidence to enable them to lead a healthy life free of drugs and alcohol.
