A group home for a person who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and assistance for folks in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there's also group homes for people with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. As opposed to sending individuals who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home may help offer an appropriate environment to help maintain stability within their lives and have counsel and support within reach around the clock. People who reside within a group home could be getting involved in treatment services during residence, or could possibly be taking steps to get their life set up outside the group home in order to at some point live independently outside of the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or acquire employment. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent option, but it is a sensible short term option for many who want to get their lives back together again.
